Reawakening
FILM EDITOR / D.I.T.
Having learnt the tools of the trade from overseeing the post-production of every project I have ever directed, I edit my own work whenever possible. Over the years I have cut numerous commercials, promos, comedy sketches & film trailers.
In recent years I took the opportunity to move into long-form, including TV pilots & short films. One such short film was Home (2022); written & directed by independent filmmaker Virginia Gilbert. Produced by Barry Castagnola.

On the back of Home, the director & producer later offered the opportunity to edit their cinematically released feature film Reawakening (2024), starring Jared Harris, Juliet Stevenson & Erin Doherty
The task was, initially, quite daunting. It represented a serious gear-change in both medium and genre. A steep learning curve in both the artistic & technical requirements of such a role. But it was also too interesting a challenge to pass on.

REAWAKENING (2024) Official Trailer
An indie production, the entire Edit Department consisted of a grand total of one! I took on all of the key roles responsible for managing the full journey of the film's footage from set, to edit suite, to final conform - passing the finished cut to the colourist and VFX artists.
As Digital Image Technician (DIT), I ensured the integrity and quality of the camera files on set. As Dailies Operator, I processed, graded, and distributed each day's footage to the key creatives overnight. Acting as my own Assistant Editor, I synced, logged and labelled every take.
Finally, as Film Editor, I shaped that footage into the finished cut — bringing both a technical familiarity with the material and a creative eye honed from having lived with every frame since day one.

In contrast to my usual work this was a slow-burning character study of loss & grief, masquerading as a thriller. The challenge was to invite the viewers to pay close attention to every nuance on the faces of the cast; in the hope of allowing them to solve the mystery of their innermost thoughts.
Overall I spent well nearly two years being involved in this film. A fascinating chapter of my life, finally seeing the end result on the big screen at the launch was an experience I'm unlikely to forget.
