How I Work.
The Approach.

THE BRIEF
It starts with a conversation. I listen carefully to what you're trying to achieve, who you're speaking to, and what success looks like. Some clients arrive with a detailed brief. Others have a feeling but not yet the words. Either is fine. Finding clarity is part of what I do.

CONCEPT & SCRIPT
I develop the creative idea and write the script. Not a rough outline handed to someone else, but a fully formed concept with a clear narrative, tone and purpose. Years of stand-up have given me an instinct for what lands with an audience, whether the tone is comedic, dramatic or anything in between.

STORYBOARD & PRE-VISUALS
I storyboard every shot and pre-visualise the complete look and feel; framing, pacing, art direction, branding & colour. Hand-drawn storytelling or photo montage mock-ups, depending on the nature of what needs sign-off. I make sure what will end up on screen is a faithful expression of the agreed concept, before a single frame is shot.

DESIGN
Some clients come to the table with their own brand identity & logo lock-ups. Some are starting from scratch. As a graphic designer experienced in visual brand identities across any medium, I can create a style to match whatever vibe, look or feel you hope to achieve - anything from heavy metal to light entertainment - faithfully representing where you're coming from & who you hope to reach.

DIRECTION
On set, I direct with one goal: to create an environment where great performances happen naturally. I've worked with amateur, professional and celebrity talent across commercials, short films, promos, trailers and comedy. I know how to engineer a fun, relaxed yet professional environment, where everyone feels heard, and maximise the expertise of those in front & behind the camera.

EDIT & POST PRODUCTION
When the shoot wraps, I stay in the room. I often edit the first cut myself, then work closely with VFX artists, composers, colourists, sound mixers and editors. I direct each stage of post-production with the same creative intent I brought to the shoot. The finished film is always in mind throughout.

DELIVERY
You receive a finished article that looks, feels & sounds exactly like the idea you signed off, because the same person who conceived it has been there every step of the way. That's not a promise. It's just how I work.
